Mr Mallepalli Laxmaiah, Chairmen, is an outstanding and a well known Dalit intellectual and a senior journalist. He was the founder President of CDS. He organized several national seminars on various issues concerning the plight of dalits and other marginalized communities in India. He participated in the Durban conference on Racism in South Africa. His areas of interest include human rights, land issues, caste discrimination, racism, economic empowerment, Panchayat Raj system, and inequality.
Prof V Krishna Vice-Chairmen , Centre for Dalit Studies has doctorate in Hindi literature. He is the Controller of Examinations, University of Hyderabad. He worked as a Visiting Professor at Ghent University, Belgium for 3 years.
Prof Y B Satyanarayana, Director, Centre for Dalit Studies, has a doctorate in Chemistry and served as Principal of a reputed degree college in Hyderabad for twenty-five years. He is actively involved with CDS since his retirement. Prof Satyanarayana is an eminent scholar in Chemistry and served as member of several recruitment boards like BSRB, RRB, APPSC and University recruitment. He also served as member of Executive Council Osmania and Kakatiya universities. He is the author of much lauded book ‘My Father Balaiah’ published by an international publisher Harper Collins.

Prof. Sukhdev Thorat is an economist and was the former chairman of the University Grants Commission. He is professor emeritus in Centre for the Study of Regional Development, Jawaharlal Nehru University. He received Padmashree Award by Government of India on January 26, 2008 (Awarded on 9th June, 2008)
K R Venugopal is a retired IAS officer of AP cadre and he served as Secretary to three successive Prime Ministers of India. He was instrumental in designing comprehensive Public Distribution System for the state of Andhra Pradesh to provide food security for millions of poor and underprivileged communities. He also played a key role in designing ICDS schemes for the people of backward regions of the country.
Kaki Madhavarao retired IAS officer of AP cadre and he served as Chief Secretary, Government of Andhra Pradesh. During his service he worked for the well-being of oppressed classes. He is known for his dynamism in working for the upliftment of poor and marginalized communities.
Dr Chukka Ramaiah, Ex MLC and is a well known educationist. He is a strong votary for upliftment of poor and marginalized communities. Dr Chukka Ramaiah fought the feudal system that was rampant in his village during Telangana armed struggle.
Prof Rama Melkote is a retired professor of International Relations and Political Science from Osmania University, Hyderabad. She is actively associated with various social campaigns. Several organizations draw ideas from her expertise in their programming planning and decision making.
Dr Vithal Rajan: During the 1970s he served as a mediator in Belfast, on behalf of the church. Later, he was a founding faculty member of the School of Peace Studies at Bradford University, and is a member of Transcend Global Peace Network. He has also worked as Chair of World Studies, International School of Geneva; as Director, Ethics and Education, World Wide Fund for Nature International, Switzerland; and as Executive Director for the Right Livelihood Awards.
